| Title/Song: I Don't Want To Live on the Moon Artist: from Sesame Street Details: 2:22 long, wmv file, 18.3 MB Made By: jedi_of_urth Fandom, Characters/Ship: Doctor Who, Ten focused, some Doctor/Rose subtext because the show and I both can't avoid it. Description/spoilers: Spoilers through "Journey's End" about the Doctor's longing for home and how his companions are home to him. Located at: MediaFire
videochallenge wanted a character journey focus, not shippy this week and well Rose is huge part of the Doctor's journey so I couldn't leave out the shippy entirely but it's not the focus. I consider the vid to be wistfully hopeful if you ignore what happens after the last scene of the vid (from JE), but if you think about it...it's less so. Hope you all like, and as always feedback/votes much appreciated.
Side note, sometimes it's best not to think about why some songs make it into my music selection. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | I can't download yet because I'm at work... but I think I love you a little bit for using that song. | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | Well, I hope you enjoy it once you get to watch, but I'm glad you like the song, I wasn't sure how it would go over. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |

| | I’m in tears. I think this is the first time I’ve actually cried about “Journey’s End.” Do you mind if I rec this? It’s… it’s Why the Lonely God Story Doesn’t Work for Me. With music. | | (Reply) (Thread) |

| Awww, so glad you liked it, and go ahead and rec all you want it makes me happy. And since it was made as "Why the Lonely God story was okay by me until the last 10-15 minutes of Journey's End" I can see your reaction to it. I'm a little surprised by just how popular this vid seems to be, but I guess it works for a lot of people.
If the show had only ended where the vid ends, that's the way a Lonely God story should end, surrounded by family. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |

Yeah. The problem with the Lonely God storyline in Doctor Who is that it isn’t a line. It’s a circle. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |

| | Which I'm starting to think RTD realized too late. He'd built up the epic Doctor/Rose storyLINE, as well as both or their individual ones, but then...he realized he couldn't fade to black on "The End" at the end of the story he was telling. If we were following the adventures of Rose and Ten II it might is some ways complete the story, because Ten II gets to have that end (sort of) but within the story-circle of the show...round and round in circles, never stopping, nothing ever changing. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |

| He realized he couldn’t fade to black on ‘The End’ at the end of the story he was telling.
But he easily could have. Unlike the past three, this year’s season finale didn’t have the first scene of the Christmas Special tacked onto the end of it. If Ten I and Rose had been together at the end of “Journey’s End,” and then he’d turned up without her at Christmas… well, I think we all could’ve done the math. (Or, better yet, if he’d turned up with a little blonde girl who called him “Grandfather.” Circles aren’t always bad.) | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |

| That was what I was always wanted it to end (when taking into account at least some of the real world issues impacting the show like actor contracts). And yeah, there's still no technical reason why he couldn't have gone that route, so I'll always probably wish he had gone there.
But...the Midnight-JE stretch of episodes while having lots of good stuff is kind of disjointed even though it was all written by RTD which has not been the case before (no matter my issues with LotTL, and the year that never was and mostly the Jesus Tinkerbelle stuff, it wasn't as...jumpy as this was). To me this seems a bit like RTD hadn't really worked out the story to be told this way and was pulling strings to get it to fit.
(Is shameless RTD...well thinks he's on crack most of the time but *wants* to do things my way) | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | That was so beautiful in it's innocent simplicity. I got tears in my eyes at then end when "family" popped up on the screen. Very well done. | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | Thanks, this really seems to have touched a lot of people, I guess because it says something a lot of us are thinking (and don't think I don't feel weird realizing I may in fact express meta points better in vids than writing). | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
